What Everyone Gets Wrong About Alchemy with Owen Weinman

Misguided Alchemy

Alchemy is often considered the science of mystics and madmen, a medieval form of magic, or some fringe occult chemistry. That’s what I initially perceived it as at least, until I realized these were nothing more than layers of lies woven carefully to cover up a profound truth; A truth that people in power have long preserved for themselves.

Because knowing this truth doesn’t just set you apart from the programmed populace — those still unaware of how the elites play them like pawns on a chessboard — it frees you from their control. And they’re trying desperately to keep it out of your hands.

The art of Alchemy isn’t about flasks and fantasies; it’s the key to eternal liberty.

Alchemical Transmutation

Alchemy has long been the core philosophy of some of the most formidable minds; J.R.R. Tolkien, Isaac Newton, and even the real writers of the mind-blowing Matrix series (which I highly doubt was written by the Wachowskis).

The Matrix (1999) is the most popular portrayal of what it looks like to escape enslavement and attain self-mastery through the steps of Alchemical transmutation: calcination, dissolution, separation, conjunction, fermentation, distillation, and coagulation.

As the facade of Thomas Anderson (Neo’s false self-identity) finally begins to fracture, everything he had based his identity on begins to burst into flames: “You’re a slave, Neo." As his sanity begins to slip away, he undergoes the very first step: calcination.

And once he takes the red pill — and his body becomes enveloped by a layer of liquid upon touching the mirror — his ego-shell literally dissolves. He begins to question everything, learns to separate reality from fiction, and discovers what he’s truly capable of: “There is no spoon.”

Still, he remains a slave of his own mind — acting strictly upon what can be seen and proven physically — until this ultimately leads to his death by the hands of agent Smith. The One was never about the mind alone, but the conjunction of mind and heart; Trinity and Neo.

Once Trinity reawakens him with her love, he is reborn anew to become The One; trusting faith instead of fear, using intuition instead of mere logic, and finally “begins to believe.” This is what fermentation looks like; to die and to be reborn.

After which, Neo’s vision becomes pure and distilled down; he sees the green code and views the matrix for what it is, removed from any doubt or fear. He no longer believes, he becomes; stopping bullets with ease and flying freely through the sky. Coagulation is when the alchemist becomes the gold, like Neo became The One.

Why did these renowned authors choose Alchemy? Because every living thing — from a seed sprouting, to a person awakening, to the preparation of a cup of tea — goes through the same cycle of breaking down, rebirth, and renewal.

Spagyric Spectacles

The steps of Alchemical transmutation don’t just work to create cult classic cinema, but to make the most powerful and potent medicine. That’s where we get into Spagyrics, the medical branch of Alchemy (established by Paracelsus himself).

From the greek spao (σπάω) “to draw out, to separate” and ageiro (ἀγεÎŻρω) “to gather, to bring together,” Spagyrics is all about selecting plants, animal-based products, or minerals with healing properties, separating out and purifying those healing properties, and recombining them to unlock the herb’s fullest potential.

This way, a few drops of Spagyric cilantro contains all the healing benefits the plant has to offer, whilst making it easier to absorb, last longer in your body, and penetrate much deeper (without having to endure the bitter, metallic taste of eating a slew of raw cilantro).

This is what ultimately separates Alchemy from Big Pharma; where the pharmaceutical cartel separates and purifies to control one compound (and igniting various side effects in doing so), Alchemy reunites the elements to create a balanced, powerful whole.

Dr. Andrew Kaufman:
Hello everyone, and welcome to The True Health Report. I’m your host, Dr. Andrew Kaufman. Today’s topic is one that’s often misunderstood, sometimes maligned, yet deeply important — the ancient art and science of alchemy. There’s been a modern resurgence of interest in it, and with good reason. My guest today is Owen Weinman, a practicing alchemist and spagyric chemist who’s never before appeared in a public forum. I’ve known Owen for some time, and I can tell you he’s both deeply knowledgeable and genuinely inspiring. Owen, welcome to the show.

Owen Weinman:
Hey Andy, thank you. That was one of the kindest introductions I’ve ever received.

Dr. Kaufman:
Well, let’s show everyone that it’s well deserved. Why don’t you start by sharing how you began walking this path — what led you into the world of alchemy?

Owen:
Sure. I’m a practicing operational alchemist based in northern Utah. I run a business and spiritual practice called ZepTepi Solutions, focused on spagyric and alchemical medicine. My journey began about nine years ago, during a six-month backpacking trip that included a month in Egypt. That experience changed my life.

I visited several lesser-known sites like Hermopolis Magna and Akhetaten, and even found myself completely alone inside the Khafre Pyramid for nearly 45 minutes. I laid down in the sarcophagus and felt compelled to sing and chant — the entire structure reverberated with my voice. It was powerful, almost otherworldly.

Dr. Kaufman:
That’s incredible — few people ever experience something like that. So that moment started your deeper research into alchemy?

Owen:
Yes, it did. Egypt felt like the origin point — the seed of alchemical thought. After that trip, I began studying the philosophy and practice more seriously. I’ve always been drawn to travel and service. Before Egypt, I’d volunteered in Madagascar and Guatemala, helping build schools and teach vocational skills. I later realized that education through experience — through nature — resonated with me far more than traditional schooling ever did.

My mother owned a yoga studio, so I grew up around New Age ideas, but I eventually wanted to go deeper. The New Age movement is a good gateway — it introduces people to big ideas — but it tends to stay on the surface. Alchemy, for me, became the deeper current beneath it all.

Dr. Kaufman:
That makes sense. So when did you formally begin studying alchemical practice?

Owen:
Around nine years ago. I started experimenting in a small home lab, tracing alchemy’s lineage back to the temple sciences of ancient Egypt. From there, I followed how it evolved through Greece, the Arab world, and medieval Europe.

Later, I trained under Robert Allen Bartlett in Washington, completing his three in-person intensives. I also managed Phoenix Aurelius’s laboratory for two years, making hundreds of spagyric medicines and working with countless herbs. Phoenix became a good friend and mentor, and that period gave me immense hands-on experience.

Dr. Kaufman:
That explains why your understanding is so refined. For those unfamiliar, could you define alchemy — and explain how it differs from modern chemistry?

Owen:
Alchemy is difficult to define in one sentence, but I’d describe it as a path of self-initiation into nature, by nature, through nature. It’s a holistic science — an experimental dialogue between human consciousness and the natural world, seeking to elevate matter and spirit toward perfection.

Unlike modern science, alchemy never divorced itself from the spiritual dimension of reality. It acknowledges the interplay between the macrocosm and microcosm — the universe and the individual.

Dr. Kaufman:
Right. It’s not a materialist science. Alchemy recognizes more than just physical matter — it deals with life, consciousness, and the unseen forces shaping them. And unlike modern chemistry, which depends on technology, alchemy can be practiced using direct sensory observation — through touch, sight, sound, and intuition.

People often dismiss alchemy because of the legend of turning lead into gold, but that idea is symbolic. Transformation happens constantly in nature. Making a cup of tea is a simple example of alchemy — turning seed, leaf, water, and sunlight into a unified new substance.

Owen:
Exactly. Everything in alchemy mirrors the processes of nature — growth, decay, purification, rebirth. It’s mystical, but also practical. Every plant embodies the environment and the cosmos that nurtured it. When we extract its essence, we’re engaging with those same universal principles.

Dr. Kaufman:
That’s beautifully said. So how do you integrate natural cycles — like the stars and lunar phases — into your work?

Owen:
I use Vedic or sidereal astrology, which maps the actual positions and sizes of constellations in the night sky. For example, when the moon is in an earth sign, that’s the ideal time to work with roots; when in an air or fire sign, I’ll work with flowers or fruits. Each celestial configuration influences the energetic character of a plant or process — distillation, calcination, fermentation, filtration.

Dr. Kaufman:
So those operations — distilling, burning, separating, recombining — are all steps of transformation?

Owen:
Yes. These are both laboratory operations and spiritual metaphors. They reflect the stages of purification, just as inner alchemy refines the soul. Modern chemistry actually evolved from these very practices. In fact, chemistry is alchemy’s child — it simply dropped the “al” and forgot its parentage.

Many early scientists — Newton, Paracelsus, Boyle — were practicing alchemists. They inherited that tradition, though modern science later stripped away the spiritual essence.

Dr. Kaufman:
Right. Chemistry isolates and analyzes; alchemy separates, purifies, and then reunites into wholeness.

Owen:
Exactly. The alchemical process works with three essentials — Sulfur, Mercury, and Salt — the Tria Prima. Sulfur represents soul or individuality, Mercury the vital spirit, and Salt the physical body. In plants, sulfur is the essential oil, mercury is the distilled spirit or alcohol, and salt is the purified mineral body left after calcination.

Chemistry seeks the smallest building blocks; alchemy aims to reunite the purified components into a higher, living harmony.

Dr. Kaufman:
That’s a profound distinction — reductionism versus reintegration.

Owen:
Yes. Alchemy is both art and science. Every operator brings intuition and creativity into the process.

Dr. Kaufman:
Let’s talk about your recent creation — the spagyric cilantro tincture we’ve collaborated on.

Owen:
Right. Cilantro — or coriander — has powerful detoxifying properties. I created a spagyric fresh cilantro tincture using organic material. In spagyric preparations, when we recombine the purified aspects of a plant — especially its alkaline salts — it triggers an esterification reaction that makes the medicine more bioavailable and potent. The resulting ethyl esters penetrate cells, cross the blood-brain barrier, and chelate heavy metals like lead, aluminum, cadmium, and mercury.

Unlike conventional tinctures, which are made with watered-down alcohol and dried herbs, mine uses fresh organic cilantro and high-proof cane spirits (around 95%). That preserves the plant’s sulfur principle — its volatile essential oils.

Dr. Kaufman:
And those oils are what give cilantro its ability to bind metals.

Owen:
Exactly. I then incinerate the remaining plant material, calcine it to extract pure salts, and reintroduce those purified salts into the tincture. The process takes weeks, involving repeated dissolution, filtration, crystallization, and gentle circulation over heat. The result is a living, complete medicine — the plant reborn in a more refined, human-compatible form.

Dr. Kaufman:
That’s fascinating — and it really highlights how alchemy unites spirit and science.

Owen:
Yes. Everything in the process — from grinding and distilling to burning and recombining — mirrors the inner work of the alchemist. Each operation purifies both the substance and the soul of the practitioner.

Dr. Kaufman:
Beautifully put. So where can people find your work?

Owen:
My website is ZeptepiSolutions.com, where I offer spagyric formulations designed to support health holistically — body and spirit together. Every formula begins as something I personally needed or wanted to explore, and then becomes a medicine I can share with others.

Dr. Kaufman:
That’s wonderful. Owen, it’s been a pleasure hearing your story — from the pyramids of Egypt to the laboratory of the soul. Thank you for sharing your insights into the living art of alchemy.

Owen:
Thank you, Andy. It’s always a pleasure.

Dr. Kaufman:
And to our audience — remember, true science begins with direct observation and ends in transformation. We’ll see you next time.
